I’m sure we can all agree that a little positivity can go a long way. Native Detroiter Bree Turmon has found a way to uplift the entertainment community and have a load of fun in the process. “The mission of Project Recap TV is to recycle positive energy.” Bree states about her company. What started as “Jam Sessions” in her living room has blossomed into a company dedicated to letting local artist showcase their talents on a larger scale; While supporting local businesses promote and flourish. Bree found her vision expanding outside of her living room. She wanted to do more and luckily she had just the right amount of support and was surrounded by talent.

In 2016 Project Recap TV came out of its shell and hosted a Jam Session at the Music Hall. With positive feedback and a new found confidence, Bree knew that she was ready to continue to push her brand. “I’m often called a promoter or a producer, but I’m simply an artist.” Bree reveals about her title. With a background in photography, production, hosting and television her statement is not far-fetched. Bree explored her skills at the Detroit School of Arts in high school and sharpened her talents while attending Oakland University.

After the success of her 1st event Bree found herself in the center of something magical. Detroit was on the rise and artist, local businesses and influencers needed a voice. Since her fist venture Bree has lead interviews with amazing millennials making noise in the community and produced some stunning events around the city. “My events are exciting. I like to create an experience. I always want anyone that attends my events to leave with something.” Being that I have experienced her events, I would have to call them “Feel Good Fun.”

In 2017 Bree produced a project called “All Shades Matter”. With this piece (which I had the pleasure of being a part of.) Bree touched on the different shades of beauty amongst women in the African American community. She showcased the project at a Black Tie event she arranged; letting others meet the amazing women involved and of course display their talent. Shortly after the “All Shades Matter” event, Bree produced “Women Who Shine” brunch. A afternoon filled with delicious food, motivational speakers and brilliant vendors.

Bree is now more driven than ever to continue to show the community how to support one another. She has more events coming this summer and is actively looking for interns and photographers. While most are looking for the spotlight, Bree’s goal is to bring deserved recognition to the hardworking and skilled peers that are around her.

Now living in the center of in all; in the vibrant Midtown Detroit, Bree hopes to open more doors this year. Her plan is to be able to expand her events outside of the city and to eventually move to North Carolina or Georgia. Although she loves meeting new people from all different fields, she would like to collaborate with Detroit musicians Charlie B. Keys and Verzell. “They are my friends and I’ve worked with both of them in the past. They are both super talented and I want to work with them on a bigger scale.” Bree mentioned about her old classmates.

In a city that is often tore down with negativity and bad news, it’s refreshing to see someone spread love so selfless and unforced. From the living room to events in the mist of the big city; Bree shows us how far positivity and prayer can take us. One thing I always take away from Bree and her events is to complete goals and to never let your dreams down. Sttay on the look out for the next event and follow Project Recap TV to stay in the loop. You don't want to miss the next event!
